Thursday February 12th through 15th

AEP is proud to annouce our February Volunteer event will be helping out at the USAW National Junior Championship event!

Volunteers will head to the URL listed at the bottom of this description, do a quick sign up, and then pick as many events as they wish! This is a broad list of events from February 12th through the 15th that include; set up crew, audio/visual staff, loaders, marshalls, warm-up area supervisors, and registration assistance. Most of these events are asking for 4-8 volunteers each and typically last 2-3 hours each.

According to their website, in 2015 the USA Weightlifting’s National Junior Championships will head to Oklahoma City as part of the Bart & Nadia Sports Experience. The event will take place February 12-15 in a joint venture between the Bart & Nadia Sports Experience, USA Weightlifting, the Oklahoma Weightlifting LWC and the Oklahoma City CVB.

Hosted at the Cox Convention Center, more than 200 of the best weightlifting athletes younger than age 20 in the nation will seek spots on Team USA’s Junior World Championship and Youth World Championship teams.

“From the beginning, our goal was to bring together like-minded sports, fitness and wellness activities in order to create a fun and inspiring event for families. We are honored that USA Weightlifting has chosen to bring one of its prestigious competitions to OKC in conjunction with our 2015 Bart & Nadia Sports Experience,” three-time Olympian Bart Conner said.

Infant Crisis Center

infant_crisis_centerSaturday, December 6th at 10:00am – 12:00pm

For AEP’s December Volunteer event we will be working with the Infant Crisis Center in their temperature-controlled warehouse. We will be restocking food shelves, making infant and toddler food packs, labeling formula, making diaper packs, and sorting donations. They were also courteous enough to give us a short tour of the facility before we begin, as well.

Also, they do require volunteers to wear jeans/slacks and closed-toe shoes while in the warehouse for safety reasons.

And a big thanks to Erin Hart for helping to coordinate this event!

Looking forward to seeing everyone out at this event!
